How does the “On-Site Consultation” work?
Garage Closets will provide a no-obligation, on-site consultation for you at your home or business location to discuss your specific storage needs. Call Garage Closets at (330) 819-5951 to set a time of your convenience. Garage Closets are experts in design and installation of utility storage cabinets, workbenches, and industrial work stations and will begin to prepare a plan for your storage area. Your consultant will take detailed measurements of your storage area which will be used to create drawings containing the cabinet/workbench configuration of your area. In about a week, Garage Closets will send you a set of drawings, usually by email, along with a detailed estimate of the installed cost of the project. These drawings are easily modified to allow changes/modification to your design. Any changes you wish to make to the design is easily made to the drawings and re-sent to you for further consideration. Once a design is accepted, a contract is presented and your project is usually completed within 10 days. It’s that easy!

How long will it take to complete my installation, or receive delivery of my cabinets for self-installation?
First, you need to know that as Master Distributor for GSC, Garage Closets receives priority attention to all orders and shipments. We do not stock cabinets in Ohio for the reason that our business is custom in nature. Companies that stock cabinets will try to convince you to buy what they have in stock! Our approach is that we will supply what you need and want. On average, once you have decided to purchase cabinets either for installation or self-installation, we can have your cabinets at our location within 5 business days. This means that we can usually complete your installation within a week! Ask any of our competitors to match that!

What makes the GSC® Cabinet System different from my kitchen cabinets?
There is not much similarity between your kitchen cabinets and the GSC® Cabinets. Besides the larger size availability of the GSC® Cabinet System, there are some other significant differences: THE MATERIAL: All GSC® Cabinets are made from ¾” thick premium grade M-2 industrial engineered panel board for the cabinet frames and shelves. This high-density particleboard is an engineered wood product made in USA with a specified weight of 48 lb/cf. This material is the industry standard raw material for the furniture industry and other industrial manufacturing applications. Both of the melamine finished products (White & Light Maple Wood Grain) use the same particleboard substrate, but then is thermally bonded with a melamine resin impregnated laminate for increased durability, higher moisture resistance, and enhanced appearance. All melamine cabinets and doors have been edge banded on the edges for additional protection against damage and moisture. All sizes of cabinets and workbenches are available in either Natural Finish, White Melamine, or Light Maple Wood Grain Melamine finish. All offer a neat, pleasing appearance that will increase the resale value of your home and improve curb appeal. THE DOORS: Doors on the Natural Finish Cabinets are manufactured exclusively using 5/8” thick medium density fiberboard or “MDF”. MDF is also a 48 lb/cf. engineered wood product which offers a flat, smooth, defect free natural surface well suited for polyurethane coating or painting if desired. Doors on the White and Light Maple Wood Grain Melamine Finish products are made of the same material as the cabinet frames and shelves. WORKBENCH TOPS: Workbench tops are all manufactured like the cabinet frames and shelves, but are supplied with a green, black or almond colored melamine surface and matching edge banding. HARDWARE: All hardware has been carefully selected to optimum performance and quality. All fasteners offer the ultimate in holding strength for the chosen application. Six-way adjustable European Style hinges insure the ultimate in reliability and adjustability. Our drawer glides are rated at 100 lb. of support strength. ALL WOOD PRODUCTS used in the manufacture of the GSC® Cabinet System are purchased from the same USA mill to ensure consistency of quality and appearance.

What makes the Garage Closets products better than all the others?
1.) The manufacturer – Garage Storage Cabinets is THE original provider of utility cabinets for garage applications. They have established a strong reputation over nearly 10 years through hundreds of satisfied customers in North America. Their product represents an excellent value. 2.) Garage Closets, Inc. is the Master Distributor for NE Ohio for GSC. This partnership ensured that your storage requirements will be met with professional experience backed by customer-focused priorities, because utility cabinets are all that Garage Closets does. 3.) the DURARAIL that is used in the GSC® Cabinet System is the best in the business. This rail system uses a dedicated rail for each individual cabinet, rather than a single rail for multiple cabinets. This provides superior holding strength for each cabinet. Other “look alike” competitor products use a single rail for an entire row of cabinets.

How many different sizes are available as a standard, and what types of stuff do they hold?
The GSC® Cabinet System is composed of many different sizes of cabinets to hold a wide range of items, including heavy garage items. Cabinets are available in three basic cabinet depths: 12”, 16” and 24” deep. By comparison, your kitchen cabinets are usually 12” deep. The cabinets are available in various heights up to 6’ tall, and also available in upper cabinet styles for installation above workbenches or refrigerators. Cabinets can also be hung at a height to allow clearance to fit above your parked auto under, or raised to accommodate storage bins under the cabinet. There are several specialty cabinets available, such as golf club cabinets, broom closets, and off season wardrobe cabinets. Call us to discuss your storage requirements.

What sizes of workbenches are available?
Because the GSC® Cabinet System is modular in design, the configuration for a workbench is virtually unlimited. The workbench cabinet depths can be recessed to provide for leg space under the bench where a stool is used up to the bench. There are three depths of workbench top available as a standard, 12” 16” and 24”. The width of the bench can be designed in any width, and can also be extended to adjacent walls by use of the industry unique, CORNER CABINET WORKBENCH. The system also includes upper cabinets and upper corner cabinets for a stunning appearance to your workstation.

Are the workbenches also mounted to the wall, above the floor?
Yes. As with the other GSC® Cabinet System cabinets, workbenches are also installed onto the wall, and are raised above the floor. It is common for the workbenches to have supports under the front of the workbench cabinet as added support to the bench. Many of the workbenches are installed with optional 12” deep storage bins or 5” deep drawers installed into the cabinets. These drawers and bins are capable of holding heavy objects. As the bins or drawers are opened and extended outward from the cabinet, the fulcrum, or weight balance is transferred outward from the cabinet. The leg support helps counter this weight shift and maintains the strength needed to move the weight from the wall. Although the workbenches are installed with leg support, they still offer the protection of being mounted above the floor providing protection against moisture damage, and offering easy cleaning underneath.

How does the GSC® Cabinet System hang from the wall?
The GSC® Cabinet System uses a unique and proprietary DURARAIL (patent pending) hanging system. Unlike many competitor copies, the GSC® Cabinet System uses a single hanging rail for each individual cabinet, rather than a common rail for the entire row of cabinets. This rail configuration is a recent upgrade and substantial improvement in the GSC® Cabinet System. This new innovation has proven to eliminate any failures in the hanging system, compared to the old rail system. Each cabinet rail is placed on the wall and secured tightly with fasteners into the centers of the studs behind the wall. In the case of a concrete or block wall installation, the rails are secured through the rails using fasteners designed for concrete or block installation. Once the rails are secured to the wall, the cabinets are mounted to the rail using a proprietary mounting system that displaces the weight through the cabinet sides. This proprietary mounting system is the key to the high weight holding power of the GSC® Cabinet System, and is far superior to both the old GSC system and any of the competitor copies.

Why is hanging my cabinets above the floor better than setting them on the floor?
Many garages, basements, and work areas are located in damp or wet places. With the cabinets mounted above the floor, the risk of damage from direct water contact is reduced. In many areas, the hidden space under the cabinets creates an excellent place for ‘critters” to make their home. With the cabinets installed above the floor, it is easy to keep the floor under the cabinets clean and “critter free”. Thirdly, having your cabinets mounted above the floor provides a convenient location below the cabinet to place storage bins or other items (lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc). Last, many utility locations have floors designed purposely to channel water away from the walls or toward drains. This makes the floor and the wall slope from one side to another. Installing the cabinets above the floor allows the installation of the cabinets to be level and hang true to square, regardless of the floor, and provides a much more pleasing appearance to your storage area, greatly enhancing curb appeal.

What colors do the cabinet come in?
The GSC® Cabinets are available in six different Melamine finishes, and a Natural finish. The Natural Finish is the most popular and the lowest priced. The Natural Finish cabinets can be painted or sealed with polyurethane or other wood sealers, but are usually left in their natural state. The White Melamine Finish is a popular finish, and provides increased moisture resistance and durability. Price-wise, the White Melamine Finish is about 25% more expensive than the Natural Finish. The Signature Series Melamine Finishes are the newest of the GSC® System Cabinets. Light Maple Wood Grain and the Dark Woodgrain offers the attractive look of finished wood, along with the durability of the thermal-fused melamine laminate. Almond and Folkstone Gray can be chosen as an alternative to the stark white look of the White Melamine cabinets. Mossy Oak Camo is popular for the outdoors-man and is often installed inside hunting cabins for kitchen use. The Signature Series Melamine Finishes are our Premium finish, and is priced about 10% higher than the White Melamine. If you are planning to have someone paint or seal your Natural Finish cabinets, you may find it more cost effective to purchase one of the Melamine Finish cabinets, as the price difference including painting is negligible.

Unfortunately, Garage Closets cannot offer you any financing options on your cabinet purchase. It might be advisable to consult your banker or mortgage company to explore suitable financing options, such as home equity options. Plus, you'll be more organized in your home and make the best use of your storage space.

Are these cabinets good for work trailer installation?
YES! The GSC® Cabinet System is well suited for installation into trailers. Since the cabinets have no backs to them (not needed for support or hanging), they are easily installed over obstacles inside cargo trailers. Items such as tire wells, panel seams, and panel overlaps are easily accommodated during installation to give your trailer an exceptional appearance and functionality. The DURARAIL hanging system is perfectly suited for trailer installations and can be used for both cabinet and workbench installation inside cargo trailers. Call Jim at (330) 819-5951 to discuss your interest in a trailer installation for complete details. Take a look at the photos on this web site for examples of a few trailer installations.
